Filtering out accelerometer noise

At one point, I thought about using the accelerometer and compass in the G1 to turn the phone into a gyromouse/Wiimote style thing. After playing around with the accelerometer and compass, I decided that they were a bit too noisy to do that easily, so I shelved it because of time constraints.

Well, googling around today, I found this article on Kalman filtering, which might help me to cut down on some of that noise.

Kalman Filtering

Maybe, if I can get that working, Wiimote-style pointing could find it’s way into RemoteDroid sometime in the future.

how about capturing pc screen around the cursor and sending to android. its difficult to use far away when you cant see the text.
if constant updating makes it too slow, then maybe a button to capture it.to see where you are going :)
also you should be albe to insert url to the software.not only ip addresses.

    Hi jamo,

Thanks for the feedback. You’re not the only one who has requested those features, and as it so happens, Josh is working on a follow-up to RemoteDroid that should make you happy. We’ll be posting something on the site when it’s ready…

    hi guys,

I do an android application in which i use the phone accelerometer to get speed(of course get the acceleration then get speed from it), but I face a problem in getting the acceleration as I need to do reorientation for the phone and calculate the new acceleration and here is the problem as I do alot of trials but non of them work
at last I hope I was clear enough and any one can help

    Thanks in advance

Great program guys, I love it. The feature mentioned in this post is about the highest item on my wishlist right now – an accelerometer mouse. That feature, coupled with the ability to assign certain movement gestures to keypress sequences on the server machine (including control sequences) would make this invaluable – I would happily pay for this. It enables remote operation of many programs, and I specifcially would use it when giving presentations.
