Windows 7 support?
Recently spotted on Twitter: a RemoteDroid user’s report that I believe was about the server app working fine on Windows 7, which is still in beta. The tweet was in German, so I’m guessing to some degree on the meaning. But if anyone out there has RemoteDroid up and running on Windows 7 — and can post a comment or drop me a line in English to confirm — that would be great, thanks.

I used it for months on Vista but doesn’t even run on Win7 64bit.

I can see it working on a mac but I can’t get it to work on a couple versions of windows XP or 7.

Up and running on Win7 64bit. I didn’t have to do anything special – just worked right out of the box.

I had trouble with connecting with windows 7 as well, even after creating rules for the UDP port 57110. How I got it to work was to go into the Advanced Settings under Windows Firewall, and under Inbound Rules listing, look for Java(TM) Platform SE binary. Odds are the action is set to “Blocked”. If you double-click the name it opens and you can change this to “Allow”. This should allow the app to work if you restart the jar file and app, though I’m not a computer geek and cant’ tell you what possible repercussions could result from changing that block status.
Hope this helps!
